Australia’s World Hepatitis Day is to be held on Thursday 28th July.
This day supports one of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) officially mandated global public health days.
The WHO, together with the national peak body Hepatitis Australia, aims to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and promote action through the WHO Global Hepatitis Elimination Strategy to achieve hepatitis B & hepatitis C elimination by 2030.
There is an estimated 335,000 people in Australia living with hepatitis B or hepatitis C.
The 2022 theme for World Hepatitis Day is ‘Hepatitis Can’t Wait’ which recognises that in the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, we can’t wait to act on eliminating hepatitis B & hepatitis C.
